After a cold December night I checked our new heat pump. Sure enough frost had formed on the heat exchanger outside. But the electric backup heater inside provided enough warmth to melt it off. The heat pump proved to be an efficient method of heating in the cold weather, in spite of needing a little help from the backup electric heater.
